OHIM About the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM)
The Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM) is responsible for the registration of Community trade marks and Community designs. The Community trade mark and Community design offer gateways to the single European market comprising 25 states and spanning a market of more than 450 million consumers.
The unitary nature of both systems means that formalities and management can be kept simple: a single application in a single language, a single administrative center and a single file to be managed. One uniform law applies to trade marks and designs, hereby providing strong and unique protection throughout the European Union.

EPO About the European Patent Office (EPO)
The mission of the EPO is to support innovation, competitiveness and economic growth for the benefit of the citizens of Europe. Its task is to grant European patents for inventions, on the basis of a centralised procedure. By filing a single application in one of the three official languages (English, French and German) it is possible to obtain patent protection in some or all of the EPC contracting states.
Thanks to harmonious teamwork by the EPO's 5,500 staff from over 35 countries, applicants are scarcely aware of the complexity of the task which the Office performs.

CIPA About the CIPA
The Chartered Institute of Patent Agents (CIPA) is the professional and examining body for patent agents (also known as patent attorneys) in the United Kingdom. The Institute was founded in 1882 and was incorporated by Royal Charter in 1891. It represents virtually all the 1600 registered patent attorneys in the United Kingdom, whether they practise in industry or in private practice. Total membership is over 3000 and includes trainee patent attorneys and other professionals with an interest in intellectual property matters.
CIPA maintains the Register of Patent Agents under statutory authority on behalf of the Department of Trade and Industry and reports to the Controller-General of Patents, Trade Marks and Designs at the Patent Office.

The National Company of the Patent attorneys (CNCPI) is the sole professional organization in France established by the Code of the Intellectual Property which represents the totality of some 600 French professionals working on the whole territory, and networking with thousands of correspondents throughout the world. The IP attorneys advise, assist and represent innovators and creators (inventors, industry leaders, researchers, sales, R&D and marketing managers...) for their intellectual property rights strategy.
The CNCPI takes care of the compliance with the rules of deontology governing this legal and technical profession, altogether secular and at the heart of tomorrow's economy.
It represents the main interface between the profession and public authorities, national and international organizations, orders, institutes, associations of attorneys or foreign agents, companies and creators representatives as well as the general public.

epi About The European Patent Institute
The Institute of Professional Representatives before the European Patent Office ("epi") came into existence pursuant to the European Patent Convention (EPC) upon provisions adopted by the Administrative Council of the European Patent Organization. These provisions also pertain to the European qualifying examination, which persons have to take in order to be entitled to act as representatives, and to the disciplinary powers exercised by the Institute over these representatives. The Institute being an international non-governmental public law corporation has its own by-laws and code of professional conduct. At present, the Institute which represents the first all-European patent profession comprises about 7800 members from 28 European countries, both from industry and free profession.
